I have loved learning about Dorothea Lange through my TPSP project, but I knew I wanted a new spin on my topic. Instead of just researching Lange and making a website, I wanted to simulate actually being Dorothea Lange for a day. I aksed my dad to drive me around town, and I took pictures of what inspired. I showed what Lange would show, and what personally spoke to me. After venturing everywhere from railroad tracks, to the Hippodrome, to Cameron Park, I knew that I had captured an exhibit that spoke to my project.
Though I could never replicate Lange's photographs, a few of mine match closely to hers:
Dorothea's effect on me, my photos, and photography all prove that Dorothea Lange has forever changed photography and the life of many people. Without Lange, people wouldn't have seen the truth during the Depression, and people wouldn't be influenced to express the truth today. Dorothea Lange has been a great asset to society, and she will continue to be throughout the future.
